REVIEWS: Become a Samurai Warrior in Tokyo

    Amazing Experience!

I did this with my girlfriend and it was the highlight of our trip to Japan! I wasn’t too sure what to expect beforehand as neither of us had done anything like this before. Firstly, the venue looks incredible – it’s a small hut by a bamboo forest, just a short walk from the station where we met and felt like something straight out of a samurai film. We put on full gear and then started by learning some basic moves with sticks and practice swords. We shot a short film scene which was really good fun and actually managed to make both myself and my girlfriend look pretty cool! My favourite part was when we used real katana to slice through straw bundles. As someone who’s never held a sword before I found this really amazing and it wasn’t too hard to get the hang of! The host and instructor were super friendly throughout and made us feel great even though we were both total beginners. Roland the interpreter was brilliant and was really friendly and helpful and took loads of amazing photos and videos of us! See moreSee less

This particular experience is a special highlight I’ll never forget.

This host truly lives and breathes by the Japanese sword, and being able to hold a piece of Japanese tradition in my own hands was such a thrill. I got to experience the sense of a different culture, and you could really feel the serious, spiritual aspect behind it all. This trip to Japan has become the best compared to all of my past travels, and this particular experience is a special highlight I’ll never forget. See moreSee less

    Unforgettable Experience!

It was fun the entire time with Yui and Hiro. All aspects of the class were both interesting and exciting. From the very beginning, learning of Kobudo, to developing the basic skills of the weapons we were handling including the etiquette and respect. To see myself cutting down the straw target was a huge highlight. Most impressive of all, were the skills of Yui and Hiro, who gave us a demonstration of what they are capable of with a sword. Yui has a great ability with english and Hiro's movie one-liners were hilarious. I can't recommend this enough! Thank you! See moreSee less

    Fun, charming and priceless

It was a fantastic experience for us today, as we learned the ways of the Samurai. We were a bit nervous in the beginning, but both guides were extremely patient with us, and very positive in their feedback. From the Kimono outfits, to the authentic samurai swords, this was an experience beyond our expectations. I thoroughly recommend this program for anyone coming into Tokyo, and experiencing the true traditions of this martial art. Yui and Master Yashiro were professional, authentic and entertaining. We progressed from wooden swords to actual swords at the end of the program. You can clearly see that the two teachers were happy to be there ...they appeared to really enjoy what they taught. Some of us were a bit awkward but I have to admit, we looked fantastic at the end! See moreSee less
