My name is Akiko Iwasaki, and I manage a hotel called Houraikan, which is located in the vicinity of the Nehama area in Kamaishi City, Iwate Prefecture. We were blessed with a sandy beach situated right in front of the hotel - a beach so pristine and breathtaking that it was recognized as one of the most 100 beautiful beaches in all of Japan. Unfortunately, great things never last, and this beach was destroyed by the March 2011 earthquake and tsunami. However, even the disaster can't take away our resilience and resolve. Determined to protect the things that I treasured most, I focused my energy on the rebuilding and revitalization efforts of the Nehama area. I wanted to help build a new and robust village that pays homage to our proud past and looks forward to a flourishing future. Join me as we construct an evacuation route aptly named "Kizuna no Michi" (The Road of Strong Bonds)!
