My name is Mitori Takahashi. I was born in Hiroshima and raised in Kanagawa. When I was still in school, studying Japanese dance, I became very familiar with Japanese cotton kimono “Yukata” and admired how all the mothers had a lot of knowledge about them. I completed a course in kimono, but couldn’t find any commercially available banding to suit the style, so I made my own! At that time, purely by chance, I came across some multicolored tsukui cord from Sagamihara. I made a variety of small braided items, and began to feel the possibilities for the kinds of beautiful geometric patterns that could be created easily, by hand.
