Hello, my name is Hakuju. I currently teach calligraphy classes as an instructor/professional calligrapher in Tokyo. Calligraphy is a well-known Japanese culture that is appreciated as a work of art and is a popular hobby among many as it is used often to create greeting cards during the year-end Japanese holidays. I like to show how enjoyable calligraphy can be by doing calligraphy on the streets when I travel overseas and giving away the work to passersby, as well as holding events to drink sake and have fun doing calligraphy. At this event, you will truly have a unique experience of tasting Japanese sake and doing calligraphy. The sake is specially selected by Yoko Yoshizawa who is a certified Japanese sake sommelier and we hope that it will help you relax while doing calligraphy.
WHAT TO EXPECT
You are able to enjoy delicious Japanese Sake and snacks while doing calligraphy. The Japanese Sake provided is carefully selected by the certified sake sommelier and the snacks selected to complement the sake as well. You will learn how to do calligraphy from a certified calligraphy instructor and you can write any word or phrase you like. In the end, you will be able to take back your calligraphy work written on a postcard-sized paper. Three professionals, the calligraphy instructor, Japanese Sake expert and Japanese food professional will be leading the participants during this experience. Instructions will be available in English and Spanish.
