Hi, I am Yui. I started learning Kobudo, ancient Japanese martial arts while I was an actress and became well versed in this martial art. After being in several movies, TV, and plays, I was able to learn under the grand master Hiroyuki Yashiro, who is also a film producer, and established "Kobudo Musubi".
I seek to spread “Bushido spirit” to the world through the experiences offered here. Our style of Bushido is focused on using real katana to gain a better control of your mind and body. I conduct many lectures to visitors and foreign residents who live in Japan. I have also been in many videos, plays, and magazines. Learning and practicing Japanese martial arts seems difficult, but by joining my private lesson, you will be able to accomplish its basics in 3 hours. Enjoy using your mind and body to learn the ways of Bushido.
WHAT TO EXPECT
If you’re interested in Japanese martial arts, Samurai or Bushido culture, then this must-try experience is perfect for your next adventure in Japan! This crash-course lesson will introduce Kobudo, a cultural tradition of Japanese martial arts that dates back to over 700 years ago. Kobudo is a rare skill that’s never-seen seen in competitive games because it’s based on the ability to deliver a fatal blow. In this experience you’ll learn the history and core spirit of Kobudo, all while practicing three authentic Japanese martial arts, including Karate, Jo, and Iaido, in the same method samurai once did. You’ll acquire the basic skills used to wield a Japanese sword properly, practice how to handle an opponent, and step in the shoes of a samurai warrior. As a special highlight, you’ll also get to defeat a straw target with a Katana, a real Japanese sword. Whether you’re a novice or experienced participant, this immersive look at the culture of Japan’s samurai will become a one-of-a-kind memory (and amazing photo!) during your travels in Japan.

I did this with my girlfriend and it was the highlight of our trip to Japan!
I wasn’t too sure what to expect beforehand as neither of us had done anything like this before. Firstly, the venue looks incredible – it’s a small hut by a bamboo forest, just a short walk from the station where we met and felt like something straight out of a samurai film.
We put on full gear and then started by learning some basic moves with sticks and practice swords. We shot a short film scene which was really good fun and actually managed to make both myself and my girlfriend look pretty cool! My favourite part was when we used real katana to slice through straw bundles. As someone who’s never held a sword before I found this really amazing and it wasn’t too hard to get the hang of!
The host and instructor were super friendly throughout and made us feel great even though we were both total beginners. Roland the interpreter was brilliant and was really friendly and helpful and took loads of amazing photos and videos of us!See moreSee less
This particular experience is a special highlight I’ll never forget.
This host truly lives and breathes by the Japanese sword, and being able to hold a piece of Japanese tradition in my own hands was such a thrill. I got to experience the sense of a different culture, and you could really feel the serious, spiritual aspect behind it all.
This trip to Japan has become the best compared to all of my past travels, and this particular experience is a special highlight I’ll never forget.See moreSee less
It was fun the entire time with Yui and Hiro. All aspects of the class were both interesting and exciting. From the very beginning, learning of Kobudo, to developing the basic skills of the weapons we were handling including the etiquette and respect. To see myself cutting down the straw target was a huge highlight. Most impressive of all, were the skills of Yui and Hiro, who gave us a demonstration of what they are capable of with a sword. Yui has a great ability with english and Hiro's movie one-liners were hilarious. I can't recommend this enough! Thank you!See moreSee less
