A Rural Harvest and Barbecue Extravaganza! #ft1000055

Nice to meet you! My name’s Murata Kazuhiro, and I’m a farmer. I was born and raised in Kyoto Prefecture, and I love my agricultural life. There’s always something new to learn when it comes to raising crops, so I am still learning, even now. Growing the food, preparing it, cooking, and cooperating with other people to make it all happen, that’s where the dream is for me!
I can’t think of anything I love more than farming (except for my wife, who is the best thing about me!). I’m just a pretty normal guy — I like music, tv and baseball, and eating noodles (especially ramen). I probably like to drink a little too much, especially after a long day in the fields.
I started offering farming experiences as a way to encourage people to come out and feel what the countryside is like, and to think about the connection between the earth we live on and the food on our plates. Hopefully, they’ll come away with a deeper respect for the things that make my life a happy one, and have a great time with us here in the process. It’s nice to talk and enjoy a barbecue with new friends after all, isn’t it?
WHAT TO EXPECT
Experience real agricultural life and leisure in the open air and under the skies. Harvest the best ripe vegetables straight from the fields… then eat them! Did you know that the moment you pick sweet corn, the sugars within the kernels begin changing into hours, if not minutes? As a result, few people outside of the agricultural field have experienced the true bursting sweet glory of freshly-picked, barbecued sweetcorn; be one of the lucky few to experience it firsthand! Enjoy a relaxing day in the countryside that’s fascinating and fun for the whole family, trade stories around the barbecue, make chijimi (a savoury pancake-like dish) and more. Connect with the life of the land and gain personal insights about food and farming firsthand in an authentic, laid-back and enjoyable way (and maybe smash some watermelons to eat, too) in this fantastic farm experience!

MEET UP HERE !
This was a very fun tour! The hosts were very friendly and kind. Even though I was confused about a few things they were very patient and guided me in the right direction. The food and barbecue were also very delicious. I hate to sound cliched but they really did taste fresher than store bought stuff.See moreSee less
