I made my debut as a photographer while still in elementary school! My elder brother lent me his camera for my school trip, which enabled me to take my own photos and distribute them. It was such an empowering experience that it kick-started my lifelong love for photography. Photography has opened many doors for me and allowed me to not just take in the spellbinding diversity of the world but also preserve its beauty through my unique perspective. My work has taken me to Tibet and the Silk Road, where I was privileged to interact with many minority tribes living in Yunan Province. I also spent time at the Mekong Delta and observed how the locals' lives were inextricably linked with this magnificent river. Such experiences have gained me recognition as a professional: I got to hold many exhibitions and author books that detailed my journeys.

Welcome to Chofu, an area in Tokyo where you can create beautiful painted ceramics that double as great souvenirs. Your host, Kamazawa-san will guide you through the painting techniques, and then, as you wait for your work to dry, lead you on a historic tour before lunch! Chofu is home to the breathtaking Jindaiji Temple. This Tendai sect temple is said to have been founded in 733 AD, making it the second oldest Buddhist temple in Japan. The temple buildings were restored in the 20th Century, but the main gate still features its original structure, dating back to 1695. The streets leading up to the temple are lined with local vendors and countless soba noodle restaurants. During the Edo period, it was difficult to grow rice in the region so buckwheat and buckwheat “soba” noodles popularized as an important piece of the history and local cuisine of Chofu. Bask in the peaceful surroundings, lose yourself in the beautiful botanical gardens just north of the temple, and breathe in the calm air of this quiet corner of Tokyo. You’ll leave this tour full and recharged, but not before picking up your now dry, personally painted ceramic memento of a truly relaxing day!

I think this kind of tour will be cool for foreigners.

I think this kind of tour will be cool for foreigners. It will be better if the tour time can be more flexible ( like we do not really have to end at a specific time ). So that people can walk around freely in their own steps.See moreSee less
